Our StaffBarbara A. Rohe, PT, MHSBarbara has practiced physical therapy for over 25 years. She received her BS in Physical Therapy from Daemen College in Buffalo, NY and her Master of Health Science from the University of Indianapolis. Barbara began her career in Michigan City. She subsequently moved to South Bend where she worked with geriatric patients. Promoted to Chief Physical Therapist, she served as Director of Inpatient and Outpatient Physical Therapy at the Community Hospital in Munster. Barbara became Director of Rehabilitation Services at Porter Memorial Hospital and founded Rohe Therapy in 1989. Since then she has practiced in Portage serving patients from Valparaiso, Hobart, Portage, Chesterton and the surrounding areas. Barbara has broad experience and expertise in treating orthopedic problems of the shoulder, neck, back, hip, knee and ankle. She serves on the Advisory Board for the Physical Therapist Assistant program at IVY Tech and acted as interim chair during the program's accreditation process. A member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Barbara has served as District Chair. When not involved in her profession, Barbara is busy with two college age daughters and son who is very excited to be starting first grade. Her husband, Bob, is a patient man who also works to make Rohe Therapy Inc. successful. Thomas Zmierski, MSPT, Cert. MDT, OCSTom has practiced Orthopedic Physical Therapy for over 18 years. Graduating cum laude from Indiana University, he began his career in South Bend where he treated athletes and others with orthopedic problems. He developed his expertise in shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle injuries and worked closely with Notre Dame team physicians. Tom moved closer to home in Valparaiso where he served as Outpatient Clinical Director at Munster Community Hospital. He earned his Master of Science Degree in Orthopedic Physical Therapy from the University of Indianapolis and joined Rohe Therapy shortly thereafter. He became certified as a manual therapist in the McKenzie method and became a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. Tom's broad experience and depth of education support the ease with which he evaluates patient problems, identifies appropriate interventions and guides the patient through a targeted course of treatment. His patients often recommend him to friends and family. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and often accepts students for university internships. When not treating patients, Tom is involved in family activities, golf--he's better than he lets on--and raising a bumper crop of tomatoes and zucchini. |
